50 dollars

Ok so we are pinching pennies again. Next summer is our 5 year anniversary and we want to take a cool trip so we are starting to save now. sooooooooo

I get $50 to spend on yarn until November 1st.

It doesn't sound like a lot of money sure but I organized my stash this weekend and I actually have a lot of yarn. It is a bit embarrasing. I am sure people have much much much more yarn than I do of course. However, as I was going through my yarn I remembered all the projects that I just HAD to have yarn for and never started knitting.

Oh! And a friend is moving soon and she is thinning out her stash and she brought by two big bags full of wool yarn. Enough to make two very nice sweaters......mariah here I come!

So anyway now I am trying to figure out what to buy. I told my husband I might spend one month of the three trying to figure it out.

I am actually thinking of using some to get some dishcloth stuff. I saw a cute pattern at the Acorn Street booth at Stitch and PItch and the stork cotton isn't expensive at all. I also want to get one of those knitting circular thingies for baby hats.

So that is the dilio.......any suggestions.

edited to add...... So Paul said that he looked at the finances and for our debt diet and we are getting $40 each a month. Woo Hoo!

Stich and Pitch Night

Had a good time at Mariner's stitch and pitch. Sat with my local SNB group and drug the hubby along. I think it is really ironic that we were playing the Toronto blue jays where Stephanie Pearl McPhee is from. Just a weird coinkidink. The Mariners lost horribly but I made more progress on my baby sweater.

Corey you have WAY too much faith in me LOL!!!!!!! Actually I am having a lot of fun knitting it and learning a lot along the way. I finished the back and started one of the front sides but I started with too many stitches because my math was off and started over. Not a big deal I love working with this yarn!

In other news. We took Riley our 3 year old to the doctor today. I thought she had fractured her arm thankfully she did not. She just had a minor dislocation of her elbow. So the doctor sat her on my lap and popped it back in. I heard it too! EWWWWWWWWW

I guess last night while we were at the game she got a little rowdy at grandma's house. This stuff happens and the doc said he sees it all the time. She was fine withing minutes of him fixing her up.

So I am doing my first MAJOR pattern rearrange. ACK! But I know I can do it. Ok here is what happened. So my dear friend who is having little baby trout in November wanted me to knit a sweater. We had a great time picking out yarn and wanted to knit something from Natural Knits. I said "Oh don't worry we won't buy the book the library will have it." And of course because it is a new book they don't have it.

So this weekend we looked through some knitting books at the library and my friend found a very cute pattern that she liked. It was a denim coat dress from Little Badger Knits (the one on the cover). Well of course a little boy does not need a coat dress. I said no problem I could just shorten it. Well then of course as I started knitting I was in a much higher guage so I think I figured out how to do it. Right now I am basically using the pattern as a design guide and not really following it stitch for stitch.

Below is a picture of part of the back I have knit up. Of course my camera or the operator were being wonky. The yarn is VERY nice and I really like knitting with it. It is much more of a mossy sagey green than is shown.

In other news I am going to the Seattle Mariner's Stitch and Pitch tomorrow! YAY! My husband is tagging along too. I will take pictures.

I am such a bad spoilee! Thank you so much for the cool flashy card for the 4th. I would take a picture but my 3 year old also thought it was darn cool and I have no clue what she did with it!

I also got your very cute ecard. Thank you!

The Mini Trip.....

Well I didn't get nearly as much knitting done as I had planned to or brought. We took Hwy 410 which goes very near Mt. Rainier. Just beautiful as you can see below. I spent so much time enjoying the scenery and scaring the shit out of myself by looking down the cliff right next to the highway that I just finished one of my socks.

The party was a lot of fun. We had issues with our three year old not listening to a damn thing we said and that was exhausting but we still had a good time. Congratulations to Jim and Sandy for 30 years of marriage. They are some of the most hospitable and kind people that we know and my husband and I aspire to be as happily married as they are. They are well loved by many and rightly deserve it!

Yes I do knit

I have had the craziest busy week. Work has been crazy. Twice this week I went in early with both of my children for a few hours. Then trekked home in time for the sitter then went back to work. Today was the first day all week I didn't work over 9 hours.

I am looking very forward to this weekend. Saturday we are going to eastern Washington so I will have a long truck ride devoted to knitting!

What will I bring you ask?....oh let me tell you!

Sock from Knitting Vintage Socks (I have yet to post my rave about this book but I JUST LOVE IT!)

Ried - I just frogged the right front side. I have the back and the left front finished.

and because I always overpack I was thinking of bringing something else as well. A co-worker has been randomly giving me yarn that she finds in her house because she will never get to it and she isn't a knitter so i was thinking of knitting her a scarf from some nice stuff she brought in.

That's about it! Have a nice weekend everyone!

Happy Birthday to the kids!

We held a joint birthday party for my kidlets today. Riley will be 3 on the 9th and Jake will be one on the 15th.

Jake had a great time digging into his cake. Needless to say daddy hosed him down afterward.

And of course Riley was the princess of the day. She was rather bossy to everyone but within reason :)

The kids got a lot of great gifts. Lots of clothes. Very noisy toys from uncle Keith and some great knitted gifts as well. Mommy had fun playing with the gifts after the party hehe!

Now I am pooped. It was sooooo hot here today. Alas I cannot sleep so I am going to work on Ried some more. I really really want to finish it soon!
