Happy Birthday Bob!!!

My very first baby is 5 today!

Oh and Paul got his birthday present too. This thing is freaking HUGE! Our house is too small for this but my brother was selling it and we got it for SUPER cheap can't say no and Paul's birthday is on Friday so what the heck right?

Please excuse the state of my home. It is a mess with moving everything around.

A Birth.....

In the next month I will be starting my in home business Sarah Brown Design.

Crazy. My husband has been very supportive and is my "business manager" ;). Next week we get the licenses and I already have a few clients. The goal is hopefully in 5 years he will be able to quit his job and be my full time sales rep.

For the past few years I have been doing design work for trade but never really got very serious. The company that I am employed with is selling to a larger company and I just DO NOT feel very secure hence the push.

So over the weekend I am going to convert our computer corner (literally) into my new home office. I am also going to be making and selling hand made goods however my sewing area is in the bedroom. I am thinking the computer and sewing should be together but I don't think there is room. I will post pictures this weekend of my progress.

I can now die happy

I met Stephanie Pearl-McPhee! She was at the Madrona Fiber Fest. Karen and I drove down there last night and hit the market and got our books signed. We also met this really nice gal in line and had a great time talking to her but Karen has her blog address. I will have to post it later. Stephanie was so cool and nice and really took her time talking to each and every fan that was in line. Very cool.

Of course I spent money and bought some yarn! So much for that resolution. Oh well.

First I joined Knitters Anonymous. Funny Funny Ladies. Everyone in this area should join. Fist 2000 members get a lifetime membership which includes 10% off a selection of shops.

I got some STR yarn from Blue Moon! Finally. I have heard people raving about this yarn for a while and they were there with LOTS of really pretty stuff and I bought the lightweight Farmhouse colorway. I also got this pattern to go with my yarn.

And I was a very good girl and didn't spend too much money and aside from buying a book for Stephanie to sign I bought a skein of yarn from Fancy Image Yarn. This gal also has a yarn of the month club. Very tempting. I also like the couger and seahawks colorway.

Ok and I don't know if you can all tell from the bad angle of this picture but I have been loosing weight. I have actually only lost 5 pounds so far but I have lost about an inch everywhere. It is pretty nice.

A step.... a lovely step

My Hubby put new floors in our kitchen this weeekend and I LOVE THEM! LOVE THEM! They were crap peel and stick before and I have always wanted to get rid of them and lately they had been coming up. This is the cheapest stuff that IKEA carries but so nice. We did the floors with padding and supplies for under $100.

Now my old icky cabinets are driving me nuts so those are next. Come on tax return!

I Cheated!

I bought yarn! A lot of yarn. This is why I don't like resolutions it is so easy to let myself down.

1st Offense: Two cones of fingering weight yarn from the thrift store one appears to be an acrylic wool blend.

2nd Offense: Crochet cotton from Joann's (it was 40% off people!)

3rd Offense: 3 Skeins of Lion Wool from Fred Meyer.

4th Offense: A skein of Trekking XXL and three skeins of cute soft acrylic for kids' socks.

Ok really I think I got it out of my system. I have WAY too many projects to work on and now MORE than enough yarn to get me through the year.

#1 Irish Hiking Scarf

My first FO of the new year. An Irish Hiking Scarf for a friend who is spending the rest of the winter in London. Sadly I didn't finish before she left so this scarf will take a long trip in a FedEx box.

I am just amazed at the weather we are having. It is so surreal outside. From what I understand closer to downtown Seattle the snow is pretty much non-existant but in my little Burien world it is a winter wonderland. It snowed again today for most of the day.

This is the view from my knitting spot in the living room

I am not getting as much knitting done as I would like to. My husband and daughter BOTH have an intestinal flu. Not fun. I have spent most of the day cleaning my home, doing laundry and dishes which yes is rewarding but I would rather be sitting with my view and a fire.

In knitting news I feel like I have so many WIPs to work on. Corey I AM working on the sweater ;). I must confess I lost a skein of yarn I have NO CLUE where it went so I am tracking down more. Worst case I finish the front and back and the arms, hood and button band are in a different yarn.

I am now working on a Quidditch sweater for Riley. It is actually coming along very fast. I picked up some Cascade 220 for it and I am using Ann Bud's sweater book which is very nice to follow. I might make myself a sweater from this book later this year. I am doing the seamless raglan sweater.

Also, like a knitting dummy I cast on for another pair of socks when I already have two on the needles. I don't believe I have formally announced but this is going to be my "Year of Socks". More details later in an "official" post but pretty much I want to knit myself a month's worth of socks this year. I have been collecting sock yarn over the past few months and I believe I have about 2 weeks worth of socks in yarn. The other day I picked up some Great Adirondack Yarn Company Silky Sock yarn at my favorite LYS. I can't wait to cast on with this yarn.

Well the laundry machine is calling.....happy knitting!

Is this Seattle?

Really is it? It is like there is some weird warp zone and Seattle has been plunked someplace where they have real winters!

Excuse the horribly dark pictures

As promised

Here are some videos and pictures from the Seahawks game.

Before the game

A couple of bad asses that let us take our picture with them.

View from our seats.

And now for the videos!

It was so freaking loud. I don't think you can even get how loud it really was from these videos.

I have never seen so many drunk people in one place at the same time

More pictures on sunday!

(yes the tree is finally coming down this weekend too)

The Loot

Here is my loot from the past week. Had a good time at the sales yesterday with Karen.

Some beautiful green lace weight wool for me (left top). I was picturing the Icarus Shawl from Interweave Summer 2006.

Oh and the booklet in the back center. That is a wonderful gift from my grandmother from her stash. It is copywright in 1946. Thanks Grandma!

On the right top (sorry for the wonderful poorly lit picture. Gotta love winter morning light), I bought some Mountain Colors for a pair of socks with Paton's sock yarn for the heels and toes. I have never purchased Bearfoot yarn yet. I always covet it when I go to the yarn shops but never spend the money. Since I had a gift certificate I finally splurged and I am glad I did.

To the left middle is a skein of gorgeous Manos. Another yarn that I have never bought for myself with my own money. I am planning a My So Called Scarf out of this puppy.

I picked up some of the brown DK wool (center) for a sweater for Jake-O it was $2.50 off each skein at Acorn. A very nice wool, cashmere, silk blend. Yes I know I am silly for knitting a sweater for a toddler out of such nice hand wash yarn but it is so pretty!

Front left....TATTING! As if I didn't have a big enough knitting problem I am now going to take on a new craft. I start a tatting class in February at the Knittery.

In the front are Lorna's Laces. I am picturing a pair of Jaywalkers,, however, I am thinking I will do the toe up pattern to optimize my yarn usage.

And lastly but not least to the front right are two skeins of a wool silk blend. I am thinking a nice lace scarf for these. Maybe a stole or a nice small sized wrap. I have been looking for a pattern but I think I might peruse a few lace books and come up with something myself. I am very inspired by Grumperina's latest Lace Project.

Yes I have some. I have never really stuck to resolutions but this year I really thing I have some good resolutions that I should stick to.

~ Lose 80 pounds ~
Yes people a whopping 80 pounds. I have been overweight through the better part of my 20's and being that I am turning 29 this year I think enough is enough. I want to be able to run around with my children and play with them on the floor. Yes I want to be a MILF. There you have it. Paul and I joined a gym and we are doing it together.

~ Stick to the stash ~
This one will probably be the hardest of all. In our goal to be debt free I think I should be strong and just knit from my stash and not spend extra money on yarn. I have a decent sized stash now to where I believe I can knit a year's worth of projects from my stash. (Remember people I still have over $50 worth of gift certificate money to spend so don't get on me when you see some new yarn it will be from that money I promise!)

~ Work on the Marriage ~
I believe this was one of my resolutions from last year. I am serious now. I really think I need to work on getting the love back in my marriage. I love my husband dearly but I think we are getting too comfortable. The past few years we have been focussing on important things (buying a home, working hard to pay off debt, raising and having babies, getting promotions), now I think we need to focus on the most important thing that we have been missing and that is each other.

~ Pay off our debt ~
I think this will be the year that we pay off all of our extra debt and bills. I am seriously cutting my extra spending and I think we can do this. I think it is only around $4,000 now which is totally doable.

Well there you have it! Happy New Year all. Back to work for me.
