Proud Mommy Moment

While waiting for dinner at Spud's last night (best fish and chips EVER), Riley drew this.

It was such a great proud knitting mom moment.

#5 Fraggle Socks

I found a use for the novelty yarn that I have.....cute toddler socks! This was so easy. I found some cotton socks at Fred Meyer. Then I used a smaller sized crochet hook to go through the knit at the top right under the elastic and I just single crocheted along the top!

#4 Pirate Hat

I made this for the We Call Them Pirates KAL. I was making it for myself but it looks so much cuter on Jake. My only modification was I filled in the diamond pattern.

#3 Sirdar Tiny Tots Jacket

This has got to be THE most perfect gift ever. I think Mr. Trout and his parents are going to love this one.

Hood detail.

Detail of cable arms.

I modified this pattern by adding a zipper instead of a button band and I also hand sewed a flannel backed cotton onto the inside. I think it really finishes off this jacket nicely.

And of course a cute sick baby picture. Poor Jake couldn't keep anything down yesterday. Riley has an ear infection (first one of her life thankfully), and I thought I had pnemonia but went to the Dr today and it is just a bad viral infection so hopefully the medication will make me feel better quickly.

Yesterday in a bit of alertness I tried to organize some of my yarn and I realized that I have WAY TO MUCH! Ok yes I give too much! I even ran across some that I had forgotten I bought. Is that bad? I also have a whole basket of WIPs that really need to be finished. I will have to post pictures of those later. Now a comfy couch with Riley and Wallace and Gromit are calling my name.

Sick

I am home sick today with the flu. I knew I should have taken it easy this weekend. Of course I am still sitting at my computer because freelance work does not have sick days. Hopefully I will be on the couch soon with my knitting and DIY.

Happy Patty's Day!

Six years ago on St. Patrick's Day I ran into my husband at a bar. We went to the same high school but didn't run in the same crowd and the rest is history. Every St. Patrick's day we go back to the bar where we met. This year we did it agian and the bar just isn't the same so we headed back to B Town to hit a good ol Irish pub and it was FUUUUUUN!

We actually ran into a whole group of friends and then I saw a TON of people from high school days which was....odd......

I ended up leaving after 11 to get the kiddos and go home and I left Paul at the bar to have more fun. Needless to say he had a great time last night and doesn't feel so well today.

I decided!

First thank you to my count em...6 readers! who posted ideas. I really like the shawlette/scarf/caplet idea. So I chose

da da da da!!!!!!

Tzarina Wrap

I know not lacey or too extravagant but I think this will suit my grandmother so well. Of course there is no way I am going to use the same yarn ($200 are you kidding me! I love my grandmother but that more than breaks the budget). So now I am on the hunt for the perfect yarn. So readers! More fun for you.... yarn ideas for this project?

I had a minor freak out moment today when I realized that my grandmother does not do her own laundry and that I might need to find a machine wash yarn. However, after a phone conversation with my mom she assured me that she gives VERY specific instructions to the person that does her laundry and she is very finicky as far as fiber content and if it is hand wash she will like that more and be sure to tell her person that note if it ever needs to be washed. WHEW!

Also I am on the hunt for the perfect pin for this wrap when it is finished. My grandmother loves all things Chinese and has a lot of themed decorations around her house, Chests, Buddahs, Chinese writing, etc. And when I say pin I don't really mean a pin with a clasp. Just something she can move in and out of the stitches to hold the wrap in place.

Ok off to the gym more later....done seaming Mr. Trout's sweater and I am sewing in the zipper tonight and I will hopefully get to the lining.

Oh my gosh she knits!

Yes I have been knitting....slowly. Work has been very busy with the new company so when I come home I am usually too exhausted to knit and I just want to cuddle with the kiddos.

What you see above is the progress of Mr. Trout's sweater. This was actually started last summer and I had it pretty much finished except for seaming after he was born and it was toooooo small. So I found this Sirdar pattern and tried again. Of course I ran out of yarn and remembered that a friend had used this exact yarn to knit a sweater for her son and she gave me her leftovers and of course as knitting would have it I used all that up as well and needed more and the angel Karen had seen one skein at Pacific Fabrics and picked it up for me.

I am nearing the end of the knitting I just have the hood and the hood border to go. I am making some modifications as you can see below.

Instead of just seaming up the sweater when I am done I decided to line it with cotton, however, I also bought some flannel to go between the cotton and the knitted fabric for a bit of extra warmth. I am also going to sew in a zipper instead of a button band do to the extra bulk that the cotton and the flannel will make.

I am really excited to finish this sweater and present it to Mr. Trout.

More Wood

Well the splitter is on it's way back to Hertz and we didn't even get the whole job done. At least everything in the front yard got split.

We still have a VERY large pile of wood to take care of on the side of the house.

And we kept the animals locked in the back yard.

I think a trip to Joann's would be a good reward for this ;)

What I did today

and will be doing tomorrow.....

These piles are from the beginning of the workday. It isn't even 1/4 of all the wood we have. We are going to be VERY warm next winter.

If you ever split wood spend the money to rent a splitter. I am so glad we are finally doing this. I am getting so sick of people just coming up to my door to ask if they can have wood.

NO! I paid over $800 to cut the damn tree down you can't HAVE the wood. Today when Paul was getting the splitter this guy straight out of the movie Deliverance came right up to the front door! I swear he was going to just walk inside.

"You givin that wood away?" "no" "so you're not giving any away?" "no....bye"

Did I mention I have THE WORST cold. My nose is so stuffed I feel like crap!
