Luke 2:1-14 In those days Caesar Augustus issued a decree that a census should be taken of the entire Roman world. (This was the first census that took place while Quirinius was governor of Syria.) And everyone went to his own town to register.
So Joseph also went up from the town of Nazareth in Galilee to Judea, to Bethlehem the town of David, because he belonged to the house and line of David. He went there to register with Mary, who was pledged to be married to him and was expecting a child. While they were there, the time came for the baby to be born, and she gave birth to her firstborn, a son. She wrapped him in cloths and placed him in a manger, because there was no room for them in the inn.
And there were shepherds living out in the fields nearby, keeping watch over their flocks at night. An angel of the Lord appeared to them, and the glory of the Lord shone around them, and they were terrified. But the angel said to them, "Do not be afraid. I bring you good news of great joy that will be for all the people. Today in the town of David a Savior has been born to you; he is Christ the Lord. This will be a sign to you: You will find a baby wrapped in cloths and lying in a manger."
Suddenly a great company of the heavenly host appeared with the angel, praising God and saying, "Glory to God in the highest, and on earth peace to men on whom his favor rests."

Yes it has snowed in Seattle people! AND.... it didn't go away within a days time! AND... we are expecting more on Wednesday! Holy Moley how did this happen?
We had some fun Sunday afternoon playing in our front yard for a short stint. It is soooo cold out. I know some of you who are used to snow think us Northwesterners are sissies but man it is cold! I can do rain for two weeks but cold come on! I can't believe I braved two winters in Eastern Washington when I went to WSU.
Enjoy the video! Also if you feel like viewing there are more pictures below.

After a while children get bored of course and I remember "Hey I have a lap top! It can play movies!"
And my sweet girl says "Mom I want to knit" awwwww too bad it only lasts a row. Oh well each row is progress.
Oh and breaking news Winter Blast 2008!!!! Gotta love the Northwest. There is about an inch on the ground and the news is all over it! The snow plow has already been down the street which barely had snow on it. Oh well at least we are prepared and it is pretty.

Here is what we had to start with. NASTY!
After a day of sanding. There were stains all over the floor so we could not go with a light stain.
After staining. We don't have a picture of the clear coat and our furniture all moved in. I just finished painting the hallway last night (FINALLY!) so now I need to put all the tools and paint away and then decorate for Christmas and you will get a picture of the finished beauty!
My baby lost her first tooth!
NOTE: I hate posting pictures of myself on here. Paul and I went to my brother's engagement party. Oh yes he proposed after 7 years!. My husband had a bit too much to drink but thankfully he is a very happy drunk and was quite the entertainment. We were very safe and stayed the night at my mom's house. It was a lot of fun and all of us are very happy for my brother and his now fiance.

So Riley had a birthday party that she was invited to today. It was at The Bouncy Place. Basically it is a big warehouse full of party rooms and air filled bouncy toys. Parents were encouraged to play too so Paul and I were bouncing around with Riley and the other kids and parents. Great fun.
Getting to my reality check. I am not so overweight that it hinders me from activities. I think that because I was once athletic and in shape and thin that my heart and lungs are for the most party healthy because of this. I have not been overweight my whole life. I am not near diabetic. Other than having extra weight every time I take a physical I am in excellent health.
I think because I have not been overweight my whole life I don't feel like this "fat" person that I am on the outside. I feel "thin". Until I get a glimpse of myself in the mirror or go shopping for new clothes.
However, "that moment" happened today. I was expecting it to happen and it did. One of Riley's classmates said "You have a big tummy" and I said "yes I do" and then she said "is there a baby in there". It was completely innocent and something that a 5 year old would be curious about. There were a few other mothers there that were pregnant. I just politely said "no I don't" with a smile and she said "oh" and ran off to play.
I knew some day it would come but I didn't realize what an emotional impact it would have. I had to leave the party room and go cry in a bathroom stall for a bit. When I came back to the party my husband didn't really understand why I was upset because the questions were so innocent. Later after talking to him he said that he loves me no matter what so what does it matter. How easy it must be to be a man!
Tomorrow to the gym again in this long journey. I have said it before. As long as I don't gain weight then I am happy. I don't want to put serious pressure on myself to loose and immense amount by a certain time. I understand this will take time. I just need to make this experience a motivator I guess. Ok signing off for now. I have a TON of knitting to do before my next bazaar and Christmas!

How do you get a UW alumni off of your porch? ...... Pay them for the pizza!
What is the difference between a Husky dog and a Husky fan? ...... You swerve to miss the husky dog
What is the difference between a UW Husky and a cockroach? "Cockroaches make that cool popping sound when you stomp on them".
What do they call a good looking girl on the UW campus?..... A Visitor
What is the best selling toilet paper at UW? .... The brand that has the instructions printed on every sheet
How do you keep a husky football player out of your yard? ..... Put up goal posts
What is the difference between the huskies and cheerios? ..... Cheerios belong in a bowl
Why do you see so many cars with UW plates on the side of the road just outside Pullman? Because the Huskies always stall in the red zone.
Seriously though we have two of the worst teams in history playing in the apple cup. The huskies and cougs are the two worst teams in the Pac-10. But hey the cougs have at least won a game and this is bragging rights for who sucks worst. GO COUGS!

So in addition to being open about my weight and loss of it I have a HUGE motivator (in addition to being healthier for my family).
Oh Paul found the camera cord....now I can't find the camera!

The workout was ok for just getting back after a while. I mostly worked on my lower body. Then I did 20 good minutes of cardio on the bike. Let me tell you bringing some sort of knitting for this helps because it kept me on the bike the whole 20 minutes. So after my workout my husband and I always meet in the sauna. On my way I weighed myself and I found that I had lost some weight.
I feel like I need to be accountable for my weight, not only to my husband who loves me no matter how big or thin I am. I don't have any girlfriends here where I live to work out with. I have friends...just none to hook up with to exercise and none of them belong to my gym.
So inspired by another blogger I read. I am going to be accountable here.
Readers last night my weight was 264 pounds. Yes that is a lot. Too much. I have not been heavy my whole life. I used to be very thin and very active and very athletic. I used to be a size 9. Now that I am older my body is telling me I need to loose this weight. My knees ache, my hips ache and my back and neck ache from my weight. When I am disciplined and I do work out regularly I drop weight very fast and my muscle tissue bounces back. It is just the getting there that is hard.
Paul says "Honey you had 2 kids. Don't worry about it." I love that man. He really does not care at all. I am so lucky. My youngest is 3! I should have lost this weight and then some by now. I wasn't a size 9 when I had my children I was heavier. I was going to college in an intensive program with only time for school, eating, studying, and school projects. Actually Paul has never seen me at a size 9 which is nice. I was a plus size when we met and got married. Just not this much of a plus size.
So there I weigh 264 pounds. I want to weigh 180 pounds. I think that is a reasonable weight for someone who has had two children and lives my lifestyle. If I ever lost more than that then I will be elated.
This is what I am going to do. Once a week I am going to post my weight. I am going to be accountable to more people. My first goal is to just loose 10 percent of my body weight and so on and so on. So my first goal from today is to loose basically 26 and a half pounds. I don't care how long it takes to do that I am not going to pressure myself with that. However, I am not going to be gaining weight any more. That time in my live is over.

There is paint splatter ALL OVER the living room area. I have no clue why. We have run into a few things with our house where we are really baffled as to why people did certain things. I guess a previous owner figured they were putting carpet in and they would just not put a drop cloth down when they painted.....but come on! How sloppy is this?
Sooooo..... we weren't going to rent the industrial sander which is about $150 a day because we have one that would have worked perfectly if all the floor was like the dining room. It will work in this room but take a ton of sandpaper and a TON of time. So we figure that renting the large sander is the better option at this point.
My job for this week is to paint the computer nook and then we pull up the rest of the carpet then next week....sanding.

I am hosting bunco next week and thought it would be cute for all of the women to take home a cute fall themed gift for the month of October. I found this pattern for mini felted pumpkins and could not turn back! The knit up very very quickly. I have used some Cascade 220 that was left over in my stash from some other project.
I think the girls will like them. Now I just need to come up with some food ideas. Usually the host has snacks out and then a dessert. hmmmmmm.

Paul had requested another hat for the winter. I picked up some Malabrigo Worsted at Little Knits last Saturday and knit him up a Seahawks colored hat. I used Azul Profondo and the Apple Green. Paul loves photo shoots!
Baby hats are also a quick and satisfying project for a rainy day.
I finished this hat the day before yesterday. I stopped in my local LYS and they had a cute hat knit up like this on display but using another similar style yarn. This is King Cole Splash DK. Very cute.
This hat I started and worked on and almost finished last week while at Children's Hospital getting some tests done on Riley's kidneys. She aced by the way! Her surgery in January was a complete success. Her left kidney is functioning so well and has lost just about all of the extra fluid it was retaining from the uriter blockage. The result...we won't need another check up for a year and then it will only be an ultrasound!
Just another hat. Knit during my rainy days.

I have been wanting to do this since we moved in over 4 years ago. These carpets are so disgusting and dingy and nasty. You can spill water on the carpet and it will stain because the pad underneath is so dirty and disgusting.
Example 1: See the dark stain in the lower right corner of the picture....yeah that was water. Clean pure water.
Our fireplace bricks were also pretty beat so I painted those. I know some people hate paint on bricks but it was cheaper, faster, and easier than restoring or whatever I would have had to do to make the bricks look like nice bricks again.
Here are the painted bricks. I have a bit of touch up in the right corner to do.
Here's Paul vacuuming up some extra crap after we painted and pulled the carpet up in the dining room.
Here is the wood floor. It needs sanding and finishing. I am so excited though. I am excited that this gem was in our house and we are saving so much money on what will be great floors. So far we just did the dining area yesterday. Today I am going to start on part of the living room.

You Are Ariel!
Headstrong and fiesty. You have a mind of your own that's full of romantic dreams about the world around you. Exploring exotic places is your ultimate dream, and although you can be a little naive you'll realize that there is something to be gained from your family's wisdom.

I was in Bellevue a little while back and of course had to get to Hilltop East. They have a display of Louet yarns which I love so I picked up some fingering sport weight in the purple color with the February Baby Sweater in mind. I knew I wanted to do a contrasting garter stitch with it and found some sock yarn that I had bought a while back on Etsy. I doubled up the sock yarn to match the weight of the Louet yarn.
We are getting used to the school thing. Riley adores school and it is nice to have something that motivates me to not stay in my pajamas all day since I work at home. Jake is still trying to find out who he is without his sister around. I see his own personality come out more and more each day while she is gone the few short hours for school.
And of course any blog post just isn't proper without pictures of the children!
Paul also built us a greenhouse. This picture was the beginnings of the greenhouse. I will have to take more of the finished product.
