Yarn Drapes

I started some dying yesterday for my Etsy shop. This is BFL 3ply superwash fingering yarn. I usually leave my yarn drying outside when it is nice out but the weather here is so hit and miss that it is drying inside and I don't know why I never thought to hang it in the kitchen. It usually finds random spots around our house, hence why I usually only dye in the summer.

I dyed up 6 hanks (two each of the same) and I am NOT happy with anything that turned out. I am scouring my design color books now for inspiration. So sad! I have big plans to get more dye today. We will see if that happens. In the meantime I am going to look at pretty yarn pictures.

Is That A Blanket...

Why yes it is a blanket. I bought the Sleepy Monkey blanket pattern today for a friend who is expecting a boy this summer.

Now at this point you are probably saying, "Sarah, are you sure that is a blanket? It looks more like a hat since you are knitting in the round." Well well well! That is part of the design! You knit the front and back panel color work in the round and then steek them. Ingenious yet I am nervous at the same time. There are instructions for knitting flat but I have done color work going from right to wrong side knitting and did not like it at all so I will gladly take the steeking.

I am changing the colors up too. This blanket will be blues, brown and cream. My friend and I LOVE brown and blue together. I am also subbing yarn. I got Cascade 220 superwash. I decided to just get yarn for the front and back panel then go back with the panels and then decide which colors to use for the edging.

I think it will definitely be a very fun very cute ride.

Spring Top For Riley

Well if Spring would ever actually make it to Seattle this would be a nice Spring top. I woke up to snow yet again this morning. It is March 15th for crying out loud... in Seattle!

I got this Katia Bamboo yarn from Little Knits. It took just 4 skeins (2 pink and not even 2 green). This pattern is Briar Rose from the 2007 Spring issue of Knitty. First I loathe seaming and there is a lot of seaming in this sweater. I followed the instructions for the arms and they came out pretty short. Which is ok they just look like they are supposed to be 3/4 length sleeves. The top is a bit short. I prefer longer tops on my daughter but it still turned out cute. I think I am going to re-do the collar though. It looks too large. When I initially did it per the instructions it was too tight so I picked up more stitches obviously too many.

I guess what matters most is that the recipient loves her top and is wearing it right now.

I can't believe it! I won this month's competition for our little Biggest Loser game. I lost the most percentage this month out of all 9 of us. BoYA! $90 for me!

255.5

YAY! I have lost 5 pounds so far in the past month. Slowly but surely. I have gone down a size too. I can definitely feel my muscles building up underneath everything else. WIth my progress I have no doubt that I can loose 50 more pounds by my brother's wedding in October. Now for knitting. I finished a few small projects for little children I know. Not mine but mine are the models. :)
I did another Selbu Modern for my cousin's daughter. I love this hat and pattern. It looks much more complicated than it is and it knits up so fast!

I also knit up two London Beanies. The one shown above and the other is blue with black stripes for my cousin's boys. I did alter the decreases on the top adding a knit row in between the decrease rows. I also used the jogless jog technique which I love.

Ok off to watch my Thursday night TV.
